WHERE WE WORK
Wonder Afrika is rooted in Kikyusa Village, located in the Luwero District of Central Uganda—a region profoundly affected by poverty, limited access to essential services, and a high number of orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs).
The Urgent Need
Approximately 20,383 orphans reside in Luwero District, reflecting the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS, poverty, and other socio-economic challenges.
Over 120,000 children in the district are classified as vulnerable, facing hardships such as inadequate access to education, healthcare, and basic nutrition.
The nearest school and hospital to Kikyusa Town are 6 kilometers away, making access to education and healthcare a daily struggle for many children.
These statistics underscore the critical need for targeted interventions to support the well-being and development of children in this region.
And yet, it is here — in the quiet corners of Uganda — that hope is rising.
We chose Kikyusa because it's home to some of the most vulnerable children in Uganda. Here, orphans and children from poverty-stricken families find refuge, education, discipleship, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Why Here?
Kikyusa faces substantial challenges, with a high number of orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs). Factors such as poverty, HIV/AIDS, and limited access to essential services contribute to the vulnerability of many children in the region.
In response to these challenges, Wonder Afrika has established programs aimed at providing:
- Education: Through Wonder Afrika Academy, we offer quality education to children who would otherwise lack access.
- Healthcare: We facilitate basic healthcare services to address the immediate needs of children and their families.
- Nutrition: Our programs ensure that children receive nutritious meals essential for their growth and development.
- Spiritual Guidance: We provide spiritual mentorship to nurture the holistic development of each child.
This is why Wonder Afrika Academy is being built — and why we're expanding to include secondary, vocational, and medical services.
Your donations and sponsorships go directly into the heart of this mission, funding:
- Classrooms and teacher salaries
- Food and shelter at the Children's Home
- Healthcare and clean water access
- Faith-based mentorship and discipleship
- Long-term community development
