Maternal, Adolescent & Child Health (MACH)
At Wonder Afrika, we are committed to nurturing the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of mothers, adolescents, and children in Uganda. Our MACH Program is designed to address critical health challenges, guided by the love of Jesus Christ and grounded in evidence-based practices.
Maternal Health: Ensuring Safe Motherhood
Uganda's maternal mortality ratio stands at 189 deaths per 100,000 live births, with a lifetime risk of maternal death at 1 in 66 .
Adolescent Health: Empowering the Next Generation
Adolescents in Uganda face numerous health challenges, including early pregnancies and limited access to reproductive health services. Notably, 25% of Ugandan teenagers become pregnant by the age of 19 .
Child Health: Building a Healthy Foundation
Children under five in Uganda face high risks of malnutrition and preventable diseases. Approximately one-third of Ugandan children experience stunting due to malnutrition . Our child health strategies encompass:
Nutrition Programs: We provide supplementary feeding and nutrition education to combat stunting and underweight issues.
Immunization Drives: Collaborating with local health centers, we ensure children receive essential vaccines, aiming to improve immunization coverage.
Growth Monitoring: Regular health check-ups track children's development, allowing early intervention for health concerns.
Parental Education: Workshops for parents focus on child care practices, nutrition, and disease prevention.
