Terms and Conditions

Welcome to WonderAfrika!

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our services and describe your responsibilities when engaging with our organization and website. By accessing or using our services, participating in our programs, or supporting our mission, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. About Our Organization

WonderAfrika is a registered non-governmental organization operating in Uganda, dedicated to sustainable community development through education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and environmental conservation programs. Our services include community development programs, volunteer coordination, donation management, and advocacy initiatives as detailed on our website and program materials.

2. Use of Our Services

You agree to engage with our organization and use our services only for lawful purposes and in a manner that supports our mission of community development. When participating in our programs or using our website, you agree not to:

  • Engage in behavior that could harm beneficiaries, staff, volunteers, or community members
  • Transmit offensive, discriminatory, or culturally insensitive content
  • Misrepresent your qualifications, background, or intentions
  • Use our platforms to promote activities contrary to our mission and values
  • Disrupt program activities or interfere with service delivery to communities
  • Share confidential information about beneficiaries or program participants

3. Intellectual Property

The content, program materials, research, reports, photographs, videos, and other materials created by WonderAfrika are protected by intellectual property laws. Unless explicitly authorized by WonderAfrika, you are not permitted to copy, modify, republish, or distribute any of our content. This includes:

  • Program curricula and training materials
  • Research reports and impact assessments
  • Photographs and videos of beneficiaries and programs
  • Organizational logos, branding, and promotional materials

You may share our public content for awareness and fundraising purposes with proper attribution.

4. Participation and Membership

Volunteers

You must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer independently with our organization. Minors may participate in supervised group activities with parental consent. All volunteers must:

  • Complete our application and screening process
  • Provide accurate background information
  • Comply with our code of conduct and safeguarding policies
  • Respect the dignity and rights of all beneficiaries

Donors and Supporters

By making donations or supporting our organization, you confirm that:

  • You have the legal right to make the contribution
  • Your support is voluntary and made in good faith
  • You understand that donations are used for charitable purposes in line with our mission

Program Participants and Beneficiaries

Participation in our programs is subject to eligibility criteria and availability. We are committed to non-discrimination and equal access to our services.

5. Donations and Financial Contributions

All donations to WonderAfrika are voluntary and are used to support our charitable mission. Please note:

  • Donations are generally non-refundable except in cases of processing errors
  • We provide receipts for tax purposes where applicable under Ugandan law
  • Donor information is kept confidential unless you explicitly consent to recognition
  • We reserve the right to decline donations that conflict with our mission or values

6. Safeguarding and Child Protection

WonderAfrika is committed to the highest standards of safeguarding. All participants must:

  • Report any concerns about the welfare of children or vulnerable adults
  • Comply with our safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Undergo appropriate background checks where required
  • Respect the dignity and rights of all beneficiaries

7. Termination

We may terminate or suspend participation in our programs immediately, without prior notice, for any behavior that:

  • Violates these terms or our organizational policies
  • Poses a risk to beneficiaries, staff, or community members
  • Is inconsistent with our mission and values
  • Violates local laws or regulations

8. Limitation of Liability

While WonderAfrika strives to provide safe and effective programs, we cannot guarantee outcomes or eliminate all risks associated with development work. Participants engage with our programs at their own risk, and WonderAfrika will not be liable for:

  • Personal injury or loss during program activities (except where caused by our negligence)
  • Travel-related incidents or health issues
  • Political instability or force majeure events
  • Economic or personal impacts from program participation

9. Photography and Media Consent

By participating in our programs, you may be photographed or recorded for documentation, awareness, and fundraising purposes. We will:

  • Obtain explicit consent before using images or stories
  • Respect requests for anonymity or non-participation in media
  • Use images and stories respectfully and in line with our mission
  • Allow you to withdraw consent for future use of your image or story

10. Indemnity

Volunteers and participants agree to indemnify WonderAfrika against any losses, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Breach of these terms or organizational policies
  • Negligent or intentional misconduct during program participation
  • Violation of local laws or cultural norms
  • Unauthorized use of our intellectual property or confidential information

11. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable under Ugandan law or international standards, that will not affect the enforceability of the other provisions of these terms.

12. Amendments

We reserve the right to revise these terms and conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our programs, legal requirements, or organizational policies. Revised terms will be published on our website and will apply from the date of publication.

13. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These terms will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Uganda, and any disputes relating to these terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Uganda. We are also committed to alternative dispute resolution methods that respect local customs and practices.

14. Cultural Sensitivity and Local Customs

WonderAfrika operates within diverse cultural contexts across Uganda. All participants are expected to:

  • Respect local customs, traditions, and social norms
  • Engage with communities in a culturally appropriate manner
  • Seek guidance when uncertain about cultural practices
  • Avoid imposing external values or practices inappropriately
